The Opportunity

As part of continued and ambitious growth, Stantec is currently seeking a Technical Director level HV Primary Plant Engineer to join our energy and resources business as part of the Transmission and Distribution team. The role can be based anywhere in the UK. This is a great opportunity to join the team and be part of our ambitious plans for growth, being a key part of delivering projects at varying scales.

The main function of the role is to develop and lead the HV team for electrical substation design projects. This role involves working closely with other disciplines and leading the FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects. The candidate will ideally have a wide knowledge of the transmission and distribution sector, having worked with a number of the key T&D clients in the UK.

We are fortunate to work with an excellent range of clients and our approach to delivery provides us with a reputation as one of the leading engineering consultancies in the local market. Our team is fully flexible and based across different offices in the UK; this is an opportunity to shape and develop a transmission and distribution team that delivers technically and plays an important part in the energy transition.

About You

You will be pro-active in building knowledge and understanding of the electricity transmission and distribution industry and capable of coaching and developing the wider T&D team. You will be engaged in the engineering community and understand how we can drive success for our clients, including understanding innovative solutions and industry best practices.

You have the ability to develop innovative and practical solutions to a range of problems, and an understanding of how one issue may be part of a much larger solution is essential.

You will also hold the ability to make an effective and collaborative contribution to the team through sharing knowledge, promoting ideas, and valuing the contribution of all team members.

A relevant Degree in electrical engineering is a must alongside overall experience of design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated power system components. Ideally a Chartered Engineer (IET) you will also hold experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE), as defined by National Grid's TP137 procedure, or equivalent role as defined by other clients. TP141 HV Substation qualification is an advantage.
