The Opportunity
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Exeter office, where you will support the delivery of regulated water projects for clients across the South West and beyond.
As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will sit within the Exeter water civil team, joining a local discipline team of approximately 15 and forming part of Stantec’s wider national water and civil engineering discipline. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and wider multidisciplinary teams to develop practical solutions for water-sector challenges.
The role will support a wide range of projects for regulated water clients, with a focus on local water companies including South West Water, Wessex Water and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, alongside opportunities to support wider water company projects outside the local region.

About The Role
Working as part of a friendly and collaborative project team, you will support the delivery of water projects for regulated clients. Your work will include preparing technical drawings, calculations, reports and health and safety documentation, as well as developing survey scopes and taking opportunities to attend site visits to help inform design development. Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of water projects for regulated water clients.
- Preparing technical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports and health and safety documentation.
- Developing survey scopes and helping collect information to inform design development.
- Taking opportunities to attend site visits and build practical understanding of project constraints.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the local Exeter water civil team and wider national water and civil discipline.
- Developing your technical capability through project work, mentoring and Stantec’s graduate development programme.
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The professional progression plan for this role will support you towards ICE or CIWEM chartership.

This role will help deliver better outcomes for communities and the environment by supporting regulated water projects that improve the performance, resilience and sustainability of water infrastructure. Your work will contribute to local and wider regional projects for major water companies, helping develop practical engineering solutions that support communities and the environment.
Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
