Facade Engineer

About the Role:

Design the Future of Building Facades with Stantec - As a Facade Engineer, you will contribute to the engineering, analysis, and review of facade systems from concept through to construction. Working alongside experienced facade engineers, you will support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high performing facade solutions, providing technical input to architects, contractors, and specialist suppliers.

Your Impact:

• You will support the delivery of projects from concept to completion, with particular focus on the technical design and performance of cladding, glazing, precast, and curtain wall systems.
• You will undertake structural engineering analysis and calculations, considering loads, movements, fixings, tolerances, and system behaviour to help develop safe, compliant, and buildable façade solutions.
• You will carry out thermal bridging and U-value assessments to evaluate the thermal performance of façade systems and support compliance with building regulations and sustainability objectives.
• You will assist in the preparation of technical drawings, details, specifications, and reports, and support the review of specialist contractor submissions to ensure alignment with design intent and UK standards.
• You will attend site visits and inspections to review workmanship quality, specification compliance, and design implementation.

About You:

You are a motivated facade engineer with practical experience in facade engineering or building envelope design. You enjoy solving technical challenges, are keen to develop your engineering expertise, and are comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

• Proven experience in facade engineering, structural engineering, or building envelope design.
• Good understanding of facade systems, materials, and construction methodologies.
• Knowledge of facade structural behaviour, load paths, movement, and interface detailing.
• Experience producing engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, or specifications.
• Understanding of UK building regulations and façade related standards and guidance.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit and engineering analysis software is beneficial.
• Thermal engineering knowledge is desirable, including an understanding of thermal bridging, condensation risk, heat flow, and facade thermal performance.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and project teams.

Qualifications:

• MEng in Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Working towards, or holding Chartered Engineer status.
