This role can be based in any of our Stantec offices across Ireland, with hybrid working arrangements providing flexibility between office and home working.
About the role
As a Senior Archaeologist, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of a wide range of projects across Ireland, providing specialist archaeological advice and ensuring that archaeological considerations are appropriately assessed and managed throughout the project lifecycle.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, contractors and relevant statutory bodies, providing expert advice on archaeological assessment, impact assessment, mitigation and monitoring.
The role will involve managing archaeological requirements from initial assessment and licensing through to fieldwork, excavation, monitoring and post-excavation activities. You will also contribute to the preparation of technical reports, conservation reports and final project documentation.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders while contributing your archaeological expertise to projects that have a positive impact across Ireland.
About you
We are looking for an experienced Archaeologist with a strong background in archaeological assessment and project delivery. You will have extensive post-graduate experience and a thorough understanding of the archaeological licensing and consent requirements applicable in Ireland.
You will be confident working independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams, with strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, statutory bodies and other stakeholders.
What you’ll need

A degree in Archaeology (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent) from an Irish or internationally recognised institution.

A minimum of 10 years' post-graduate experience in archaeological assessment.

Appropriate archaeological licensing in Ireland and experience working within the requirements of relevant legislation, licences and consents.

Proven experience in the preparation and management of appropriate archaeological licences and consents.

Experience undertaking archaeological impact assessments and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.

Experience planning and managing archaeological excavation and investigation activities in accordance with relevant licences and consents.

Experience in archaeological monitoring of works, including working effectively with contractors and project teams.

Experience engaging with and consulting relevant statutory bodies, stakeholders and other consultees.

Experience managing and coordinating post-excavation specialists and associated requirements.

Experience preparing conservation reports, technical reports and final archaeological reports.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex archaeological matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to agreed deadlines.

A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
