Clean water infrastructure plays a vital role in protecting public health, supporting communities and safeguarding the environment. At Stantec, our teams are working on projects that will shape the future of water treatment across the North West, and we’re looking for a Senior Process Engineer – Clean Water to join us in Warrington or Manchester. ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Process Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of Clean Water projects, taking responsibility for process engineering activities across different stages of project development. You’ll prepare and review process calculations, technical specifications, design documentation and reports, helping to identify appropriate treatment solutions and ensure designs meet project requirements. You’ll also support optioneering, feasibility assessments and the resolution of technical issues as projects progress towards delivery.

Working alongside project managers, clients and engineers from other disciplines, you’ll coordinate design inputs and contribute to high-quality project outputs. You’ll also share your knowledge with colleagues, support developing engineers and contribute to technical proposals and wider business opportunities, helping strengthen Stantec’s process engineering capability across the North West.

YOUR IMPACT

Your work will help improve the performance and resilience of Clean Water infrastructure across the North West, supporting communities through the delivery of dependable, efficient and sustainable water supplies.

You’ll help to:

  • Develop treatment solutions that respond to evolving water supply and treatment requirements.

  • Support improvements to the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of water treatment assets.

  • Apply sound technical judgement to resolve engineering challenges and manage design risks.

  • Provide clear technical input that helps clients make informed decisions about their infrastructure.

  • Share expertise and support colleagues in developing their technical skills and engineering knowledge.

ABOUT YOU

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng or IEng) with a relevant professional institution, or actively working towards professional registration.

  • Experience delivering process engineering design for Clean Water projects.

  • Good understanding of water treatment processes and engineering principles.

  • Experience preparing process calculations, technical reports and design documentation.

  • Ability to manage technical tasks and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Knowledge of UK water industry standards and design requirements.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with water treatment works, upgrades or water supply projects.

  • Exposure to feasibility studies, optioneering or treatment process selection.

  • Familiarity with process design software and technical specifications.

  • Experience contributing to bids or proposals.

  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers.

  • Understanding of water resilience, scarcity and changing water quality challenges.
