The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Senior or Principal Landscape Architect or Planner.

The landscapes we shape today will influence how communities experience the world for generations to come. At Stantec, we take that responsibility seriously.

Our Landscape Architecture team works at the intersection of environmental ambition, sustainable design and practical delivery.  With a strong focus on the Water sector, you’ll have the opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure schemes and innovative environmental projects, helping to address climate change, enhance biodiversity and create more resilient places for the future.

If you’re passionate about the role landscape planning and design can play in creating a more sustainable world, this is an opportunity to put your expertise to work on projects that truly matter.

About The Role:

You’ll play a key role in delivering landscape planning and design services across a diverse portfolio of projects, primarily within the Water sector. From wetland creation and habitat improvements to Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and stormwater interventions, your work will help deliver lasting environmental and community benefits.

Working across all stages of project development, both pre- and post-planning, you’ll combine your technical expertise and creative thinking to develop practical, sustainable solutions for complex infrastructure projects.

You’ll also have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the continued growth and development of our Landscape Architecture team.

Your Impact:

In this role, you will:

  • Lead landscape planning and design inputs across a range of projects, from early-stage concepts through to detailed design and construction.
  • Contribute to nationally significant infrastructure schemes and environmental projects that support sustainability, biodiversity and climate resilience.
  • Undertake landscape and visual surveys, site assessments and fieldwork across the UK.
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, design documentation, fee proposals and project deliverables.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Manage discipline-specific tasks, ensuring work is delivered to the required quality, programme and budget.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, sharing your knowledge and helping others develop their skills.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the team, influencing its direction, capabilities and future growth.
  • You’ll be joining a collaborative team within a Landscape Institute Registered Practice, where you can continue to develop your expertise while helping shape places that deliver meaningful, long-term benefits.

About You:

You’re an experienced Landscape Architect or Planner who combines strong technical knowledge with a passion for sustainable design and environmental improvement.

You’ll bring:

  • Demonstrable experience in landscape design, from concept development through to construction, including RIBA Stages 2–4.
  • A good understanding of UK environmental planning, planning legislation and EIA regulations.
  • Experience preparing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs) and landscape appraisals for UK planning applications, which would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to understand client needs and provide clear, pragmatic advice.
  • The ability to manage your own workload, coordinate project activities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Above all, you’re a collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and working across disciplines. You bring creativity, sound professional judgement and a genuine commitment to creating exceptional places that leave a lasting legacy for people, communities and the environment.
  • If you’re looking for your next opportunity to make a difference through landscape architecture and planning, we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline.
