The Opportunity

Join Stantec's nationally recognised Urban Drainage Modelling team and play a leading role in shaping the future of wastewater infrastructure across the UK & Ireland. As investment across the water sector continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to lead complex, high-profile projects while influencing technical excellence, digital innovation, and strategic project delivery.

Working alongside industry-leading specialists within a multidisciplinary team of over 175 professionals, you'll provide technical leadership on nationally significant programmes that improve water quality, reduce flood risk, and deliver sustainable outcomes for clients and communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Principal Urban Drainage Modeller, you'll provide technical leadership across a portfolio of complex modelling projects, supporting project teams, developing client relationships, and driving innovation across the discipline.

You will lead multidisciplinary project delivery, oversee technical quality, provide strategic modelling advice, and champion best practice across the business. Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, you'll help shape project solutions, support business growth, and mentor engineers to strengthen our technical capability.

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering complex urban drainage modelling projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of InfoWorks ICM and associated GIS software.
  • Experience providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience reviewing technical outputs and maintaining quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and leadership capabilities.

Desirable:

  • Chartered status with ICE, CIWEM, or another relevant professional institution.
  • Experience leading major wastewater, flood risk, catchment planning, or strategic modelling programmes.
  • Experience supporting business development and technical innovation.
